Two years into one of the largest prefabricated student housing programs in the country, Cal Poly’s initiative offers a real world look at how modular delivery evolves from concept to execution. This session examines how an iterative approach has informed design standardization, manufacturing efficiency, and on site construction, while addressing cost, schedule, and quality outcomes.
Panelists will share lessons learned across multiple phases of delivery, including how feedback loops between designers, manufacturers, and builders have improved coordination and reduced risk over time. The discussion will also explore how prefabrication can scale across campus systems, what institutional owners should consider when pursuing similar strategies, and how procurement and partnerships must adapt to support this model. Attendees will gain practical insight into how innovation in delivery is being applied and refined at scale.
